Float Plans for S/V Serena
2007
|
My new 406 GPIRB is setting inside Serena with the activation switch duct taped CLOSED. My old 406 EPIRB is setting inside my apartment in Spenard - Anchorage, AK with the activation switch also safely duct taped CLOSED.
The battery on my old EPIRB is now past its official expiration date. I've purchased a new ACR Globalfix GPIRB and have sent in the relevant emergency contact info to the Coast Guard.
07-14-07: Do an oil change, replace a life line with a tempory fix and than putter around Resurrection Bay. I may have Laura Bowen and Jake Larno on board from the Alaska Free Divers Club to do some spear fishing. We won't go far. This is Serena's first voyage this season.
Spring 2007: After losing two entire sailing seasons to vessel repair and a campaign cycle, Serena and her skipper are now ready for guests.
I've spent the entire 2005 sailing season dealing with her repairs. I was still not done in 2006. The good news is time, money, and some insurance funds made her good as new. The really good news is I didn't arrive at my slip to find 3 feet of mast sticking out of the water. I was lucky!
Pictures of her repair are here. |
